A course on Firstmate and Claude Code

Give it the idea. Keep the decisions.

Set up Firstmate on a $20-a-month Claude plan. A crew of AI agents does the work, and you approve what matters.

Meet the crew Zach, Amy, Andrew, Daniel and Charles

You bring the idea. You keep the card and the decisions.

The agents never hold your money. Anything public, paid or permanent waits for your yes.

The crew does the rest.

  • ResearchMarkets, competitors and rules, with every source linked.
  • MarketingPositioning, page copy and ad drafts for you to approve.
  • OutreachLead lists and first emails, drafted and waiting for your send.
  • RepliesGmail drafts written in your voice, waiting in your drafts folder.
  • CallsWith a voice tool you connect, on numbers you approve.
  • DesignPages and layouts like these, shown to you before they ship.
  • WebsiteBuilt in Astro, tested, and opened as a change you can read.
  • DeploymentPut live on Cloudflare once you say merge.

Meet the crew

Five example roles you can set up. Each one is a crewmate with its own skills and the tools you connect. I run these five every day; give yours whatever names and jobs you like.

Calls go out through a voice tool you connect, such as ElevenLabs. Calls and messages go only to numbers you approve, and stay inside the consent rules of each country.

Zach: a pale blue-grey blob character with swept-back navy hair, round gold glasses and an amber bow tie.

Zach

The personal butler

Checks bookings, tables and opening hours, and keeps a short list of what is worth your time. Zach finds and prepares; you choose.

Amy: a blush-pink blob character with a copper-red bob, black cat-eye glasses and an amber headset.

Amy

Outreach

Picks up what Zach and Andrew find and makes contact: an email first, a call with a voice tool you connect, such as ElevenLabs, a WhatsApp follow-up if there is no answer. Every list and every script waits for your yes.

Andrew: a sage-green blob character with a tall tuft of mint filament hair, chunky clear round glasses and an amber pencil.

Andrew

The research lead

Finds things on the open web and links every source. When a site blocks robots, Andrew stops and hands it to you instead of forcing a way in.

Daniel: a lavender-grey blob character with a silver layered crop, narrow black glasses and an amber notebook.

Daniel

The brain of the operation

Plans with you before anyone builds. Takes time over a conclusion, asks for the evidence and says so when an idea does not hold up.

Charles: a peach blob character with a wavy plum quiff, tortoiseshell glasses and an amber pocket square, winking.

Charles

The charming one

Gets you seats at meetings and runs the first call with a new lead Negotiates inside the limits you set, and nothing is agreed until you approve it.

How it works

The free course ends with a crew that works.

Four short lessons. You need a computer, a GitHub account and a Claude plan.

  1. Install Claude Code

The agent everything runs on. One command, then sign in with your Claude account.

  2. Clone Firstmate

The open-source supervisor by Kun Chen. Start Claude Code inside it and it becomes your first mate.

  3. Add one project

Point it at a repository you own. It reads the project and changes nothing.

  4. Run one worker on one task

Ask for a real fix. A crewmate does it in its own copy and hands you the change to approve.

This course and this site were made by the setup it teaches.

The crew

  • Researched the market, the payment rules and the ad rules
  • Drafted the lessons, the blueprints and this copy
  • Designed these pages and built them in Astro
  • Deployed the site

The captain

  • Had the idea
  • Chose the name and the price
  • Made every call the crew sent up
  • Bought the domain, by hand

Blueprint 1 tells that day task by task. The full access walkthrough shows the same setup running every day.

Free to set up. Pay to run it well.

Why I made Unattended Crew

Questions people ask first

Will this make me money?
No one can promise that, and we do not. The course teaches you to set up a crew that does real work. What that work earns depends on your idea, your market and your decisions.
Do I need to code?
You type requests in plain English, so you do not need to write code. You do need to be comfortable opening a terminal and pasting the commands the free course gives you.
What does it cost to run?
The free course works on a Claude Pro plan, which is $20 a month. Heavier use costs more. Full access shows the server and model costs I pay and how routing keeps them down.
Can the agents spend my money?
Not in this setup. Agents draft and prepare; you pay, send and publish. The course shows how to keep it that way.
Is this the official Firstmate course?
Firstmate is free, open source and made by Kun Chen. Unattended Crew is an independent guide to setting it up and running it, and is not affiliated with the project. We link to Firstmate rather than copy it.

Start with one task.

By the end of the free course, a crewmate has done it and is waiting for your yes.
